About Me
I am Alexandra Barskiy; I'm a senior studying marketing at the University of Alabama. I am originally from the Atlanta, GA area and am currently planning on attending grad school for my MBA immediately following my graduation in May. In the future, I intend to be working in marketing research or analytics.
Focus
For this project, my main focus areas were our partnerships section, information on Pierre Bordieu's Theory of Practice, and looking into marketing strategies targeting minority groups.

Most of my time was dedicated into the idea of creating a partnership group to serve as an advisory body to Walker County, to ensure sufficient inclusion of minority groups in an outdoor recreation economy in the area.

In addition to this research, I served as a facilitator of communication between our class and the larger business class conducting the rest of this business plan.
Reflection
For this project, my background in marketing allowed me to provide a lot of insight into how minority involvement and inclusion in an outdoor recreation economy is beneficial for the marketing and advertising of Walker County. An understanding of basic marketing techniques allowed me to critically reflect on the strategies we suggested for targeting an ORE to minority groups in Walker County.

In addition to this, I have experience executing marketing research through work done on campus at UA under the supervision of a professor within the marketing department. This prior research experience aided me when searching for and analyzing articles regarding our topic.
Additionally, my connections to the business school proved to be beneficial when executing communications between our honors class and the business class completing the majority of this grant proposal project.

Working with my peers in this class is something I have really enjoyed. Often, it is easy in upper-level coursework to become sheltered into our majors and spend the majority of academic discussions only surrounded by people in our own field. Being able to reach outside of business and marketing to think critically with a team of students from vast areas across campus contributed a lot to finishing up my college experience strong and allowing me to continually learn new skills this semester.
