About Me

My name is Daniel Edwards. I am currently in my Senior Year working towards my B.S. in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics and Computer Science. I grew up in Birmingham Alabama and plan on working there after I graduate at Revere Control Systems. Eventually I plan on attending graduate school and working towards a master’s degree with a core focus on Embedded Systems.

Focus

My focus on this document at first was to research the checkered history of Moundville and anything that we could learn from it to prevent us making any similar sort of mistakes. Then my focus shifted towards the idea of certain peoples’ differing opinion on the definition of outdoor recreation and how that influences participation in parks. I also looked at the representation of minorities in the staffing of parks and its impacts and finally looked at the existence of nature deprived communities.

Reflection

Looking back, I think my main takeaway from this project is a better understanding of what a group project looks like outside my major. Unfortunately, Electrical Engineering had pretty much no contribution to this project. Because of this, I had to be much more creative in my research than I’m used to. With 90% of my curriculum at UA, I’ve been able to reference a textbook or find examples online, but this is the first course where I’ve had to research and look for something that might not even exist. I think this was an important experience for my future, especially if I plan on going into EE research, because that’s all about studying things that don’t exist online or in a textbook.
