About Me

Howdy there! My name is Hailey Paris, like France, and I’m a psychology and criminal justice major. I’m currently a senior set to graduate this December, and while I was born here in Northport, Alabama, I grew up in D.C. My biggest aspiration for after graduation is to someday work with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit analyzing serial killers in order to grasp a better understanding on their minds and perceptions.

Focus

My main focus on contribution for the project was our anecdotal section in which I was responsible for researching different perceptions of discrimination of different minorities—African Americans, Native Americans, and women to be more specific. Overall, being able to understand their insight on their own personal discriminations and more importantly, how knowing these experiences can help future ORE development by making sure all people, regardless of differences, will feel at home.

Reflection

With a personal study of psych, I did not see an obvious way I could utilize by skills in comparison to others with a marketing or journalism degree. I soon began to realize the power of a personalized story. Being able to relate to something which detrimentally effects another person to the point of individual exclusion. The biggest way in which this project helped me step out of my comfort zone was the way in which we never had a set schedule for the semester. There were days were we came in and made zero progress on an era we thought was detrimental, and other days were we walked out with our heads spinning with things and ideas to do. All in all, we all worked great together in order to get things done.
